In 2007, during the midst of a 6-year struggle with infertility, I began leading a group of women at my church through a Christian book study on infertility. After many rounds of infertility treatments including IVF, in 2008 I gave birth to twins. In 2010, after a subsequent miscarriage, I felt called to establish a more formal support group that would encompass women struggling with infertility and baby loss. With the support of my Church, The Crossing, GracefulWait hosted it’s first monthly support meeting in September 2010, and continues to meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
In early 2013 my group and I prayed for a new home for our GracefulWait monthly meetings. Little did I know, God would answer with Plume. It is an honor to open up the doors each month to hurting women. There is no other support group (not even a secular one) for infertility in Mid-Missouri. Women come from Jeff City, Moberly and even Kirksville to find comfort from others who understand. GracefulWait is founded on Christian principles but supports women from all religious faiths or beliefs. The group meets in the Gathering Room at Plume, outside of the Church environment, in hopes of reaching those who are not normally comfortable in a church setting.
Our monthly meeting schedule for the first half of 2018 is:
